As Shakina Nayfack was fundraising to take her one-woman show Manifest Pussy to North Carolina, we offered to print posters as a contribution to her tour. We worked together with Shakina and her designer Michelle Dimuzio created a beautiful 2-color poster with fluorescent pink and black.
Manifest Pussy is a combination of her two shows. The first show was called One Woman Show and it told the story of her life leading up to her gender transition. The second show is Post-Op and it’s about the 6 weeks Shakina spent in Thailand before, during and after the surgery. Now she is combining both works into a single full-length work: Manifest Pussy.
With the passage of the HB2 in North Carolina, some celebrities cancelled their shows in North Carolina and Shakina Nayfack believes “for Transgender and gender-non-conforming folks, restricting access to cultural entertainment only adds insult to injury.” So she decided to take her new show to North Carolina.
The tour will start with One Woman Show at Joe’s Pub in New York on June 8th, and will close with Post-Op, again at Joe’s Pub, on June 23rd. For more info about tickets you can go to Shakina’s website at shakina.nyc. See below for dates and locations.
