and finally we offer metallic gold ink.
It all started with finding a clean drum on eBay. This is kind of a big deal because it’s really really hard to find new color drums for the RP3700 since this model is not continued by the Riso company. Luckily, this color drum was bought by a school but it was never used. According to the eBay post, it was found in the school’s basement. I wish I had more information about the story.
When I opened the case, the styrofoam protectors were still in the box.
Since the metallic gold ink is a special order, the minimum number of tubes you can get is 10 so our gold stocks can compete with Central Bank’s Gold Reserves for a while. Special inks only come in Z-type ink tubes which are not compatible with my RP3700 machine so I had to transfer them into an empty tube. The idea of cleaning an empty red tube was intimidating at first but after leaving the tube in Citrus Solvent over night, cleaning was a piece of cake. Red Velvet Cake if I need to be more specific. Actually it was somewhere in between a red velvet and a lemon pound cake because of the amazing citrus smell. Now whenever I open the metallic gold ink tube, the citrus smell fills out the room. You can easily make one of these at home so your kitchen smells like fresh citrus gold.
First prints with the metallic gold will be released at the Drums On Paper, Risograph Print Show. Some of the artists who are using the gold ink for the show are Laura Murray, Florence Gidez, Dan Lowe, Day Le, Elizabeth Tolson, Cem Kocyildirim, Scott Chasse, Thomas Schim, Wyna Liu, Tim Roseborough, Endam Nihan and Jenn Kaye. So don’t miss the show because the prints are published in a limited edition of 10.
