Studio visit with Greg Stone – Made in America

Last week, we had the chance of hosting Greg Stone to print his work for the Drums On Paper, Risograph Print Show. Greg will be showing 2 prints about Immigration: our favorite subject here at Authorized to Work in the US Press. Let’s learn more about him and his work.

Born and raised in the South and currently living in New York City, Greg Stone is an artist, printmaker, designer, and musician. He received his MFA from the University of Kansas in 2015 and his BFA from the University of Georgia in 2011.  He has worked in galleries, art centers, museums, letterpress shops and t-shirt shops. When he is not busy making art, Stone can be found playing guitar in his printmaking band À la Poupée and the Chine-Collés and daydreaming about the simpler times. His bright and playful work is presented as a hodgepodge of imagery referencing everything from current events and history to pop culture and personal narrative. Cynical yet humorous, nostalgic yet critical, Stone’s work aims to overwhelm and immerse the viewer in visual language. While trained as printmaker, Stone’s practice expands to include drawing, painting, book arts, sculpture and installation.

Mark your calendars and don’t miss his new prints. They will be released on November 7 at Drums On Paper – Risograph Print Show, at Glasshouse, 246 Union Avenue, Brooklyn. They are limited edition of 10 with soy-based riso inks (Blue and Red, great color combo for a US immigration subject.)
